Overview of Current Activities:
Encourages market penetration of new,
clean and efficient European energy technologies;
promotes technology transfer, strengthening worldwide
energy supply security; and protection of the
environment.
Technology demonstration and
dissemination for rational use of energy in: industry,
buildings and transport; renewable energy sources
(including solar, biomass, wind, geothermal and hydro;
solid fuels and hydrocarbons).
By December 1993, 513 individual
actions had been completed by the OPET (Organisations
for the Promotion of Energy Technologies) network; more
than 267 others had been started or were at the planning
stage. Actions included: market studies of specific
technologies and industrial sectors; international
seminars to expose decision-makers to innovative energy
technologies; conferences and workshops; participation
at national and regional energy-related exhibitions and
fairs; and production of a wide range of publications
including newsletters and videos.
In Central and Eastern Europe, key
technologies and experiences have been addressed through
integrated packages of actions, including safe and
efficient operation of boilers, energy management
training, electricity savings, and clean combustion of
coal.
Key markets for selected European
energy technologies have been targeted, including Latin
America, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean region, the
United States, Japan and EFTA.
